Fifteen Minutes with Five Feet Dance: Creating Space.
We recorded a podcast that’s posted on CounterPulse’s website. We talk about the unique space we’ve created as a group of Asian American Women who are intentionally listening to each other and asking difficult questions.
We are interested hearing your thoughts about the podcast to continue the conversation.
“I feel really drawn and impelled to talk to everyone I talk to about this work. Not just this work, but the work, and it’s really- it’s informed the way I talk to other Asian American folks – to my Mom, my Dad, to my brother – and to White people and to not White people. Just having these conversations is so important right now.” -Malia Byrne

CounterPulse Artist in Residence!
Five Feet Dance is pleased to announce that Clarissa K. Ko has been invited to be an Artist in Residence at CounterPulse through their Edge program to produce an original piece of work using the generous support of the organization.
“CounterPulse is building a movement of risk-taking art that shatters assumptions and builds community. We provide space and resources for emerging artists and cultural innovators, serving as an incubator for the creation of socially relevant, community-based art and culture. CounterPulse acts as a catalyst for art and action; creating a forum for the open exchange of art and ideas, sparking transformation in our communities and our society. We work towards a world that celebrates diversity of race, class, cultural heritage, artistic expression, ability, gender identity & sexual orientation. We strive to create an environment that is physically and economically accessible to everyone.”
More exciting information about the project, the dancers, and the process to come soon…
This work is developed through the CounterPulse Artist Residency Commissioning Program with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, San Francisco Arts Commission, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Zellerbach Family Foundation, and the Ken Hempel Fund for the Arts.
